The Close Relationships and Healthy Living Lab is a research laboratory in the Department of Psychology at Syracuse University.
In this lab, Dr. Brett Jakubiak and his research team investigate specific relationship experiences (e.g., behaviors, perceptions) that promote and protect close relationship functioning and impact individuals’ health and well-being. We are particularly interested in understanding the interpersonal support processes that regulate stress, encourage autonomous goal pursuit, and enhance relationship quality across the lifespan. In our work, we consider the perspectives of support recipients and support providers, and we consider how normative attachment motivations and individual differences in attachment orientation shape support experiences.
